That's My Name & That Is So ME!

Confucius Theory

Confucius defined humanity, or jen, as a “love of people” stating “if you want to make a stand, help others make a stand.” That is, the Confucian theory of humanity exemplifies the golden rule. It is so central to Confucian thought that it appears 58 times in the Analects. Similar to the Christian process of seeking God, Confucius teaches seeking jen to a point of seemingly divine mastery until you are equal to, or better than, your teacher. The Confucian concept of jen encompases both love and altruism.

I like it! It's all in the name I suppose. Can your name dictate your life's purpose? What do you think!?

It Takes a Village

Speaking of forming Communities..

In this blog I cover a lot of topics, have several foci and therefore find myself as a member of many different communities.

So in the same vein of Mocha Mamas on the Move, I am also creating Napptural Knowledge, Vibrate Higher and Eat2Live.

Napptural Knowledge will be links and blogs that relate to the natural hair journey, product reviews and all things natural hair.

Vibrate Higher will be links that deal with Human Potential, Walking in One's Purpose and Living the Life That You Love and Deserve. Most of the blogs and links will related to material found in the Manifestation Mondays section.

Eat2Live will be all links that explore veganism, vegatarianism, whole foods, healthy recepies, food challeneges to a healthier way of eating. I'm sure some exercise links will find their way here too. If you gravitate towards Wellness Wednesday then this will be your favorite blog roll.

Stay tuned! I love Community Building!!!

Mocha Mamas on the Move!

From my Sunshine Builder Volunteer/Travels In Ecuador Blog it has been brought to my attention that there is a sub community brewing. There are Sistahs everyone breaking the mold and getting their travel on. I have received a lot of support from these ladies all over the globe and I'm going to return the favor. I'm going to spend a day, reading, following, commenting and linking to those blogs that I am able to, to both my Sunshine Builder Blog and BWWP. From there I will continue to follow and support. All of this social networking is about forming communities and I haven't been active in that. I'm calling this group Mocha Mammas on the Move!!

STAND!!

Stand! - Sly & The Family Stone

Stand
In the end you'll still be you
One that's done all the things you set out to do
Stand
There's a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you're going anywhere
Stand
For the things you know are right
It s the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
Stand
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
You've been sitting much too long
There's a permanent crease in your right and wrong
Stand
There's a midget standing tall
And the giant beside him about to fall
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you're saying makes sense and all
Stand
Don't you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be

Everybody
Stand, stand, stand

Staaaand, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na-na-na....(Fade Out)

Happy Birthday to Me! My Mantra...

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

My New Year New You Program:

I'm always coming up with a new program, this is my latest....

I wrote a calendar in my spiral (I'm thinking about getting a poster board and making a big one for my wall, but the idea just came to me while I was journaling, for now it's in my spiral)

I wrote down all of the things I want to work on. For example, morning prayer, meditation and yoga hour, wake up early (5/5:30) to have quiet time to do those things, whole foods eating and as Green as possible, 30 min of cardio, Productivity which is working on my dream life basically, camps, workshops, life coaching etc, writing (be it journaling, writing my 750 words etc), Scholastics (this used to be "reading" but now it includes, the current book I'm reading for leisure, catching up on current events, or studying Spanish), Band Practice (as I affectionately call it which is either continuing to teach myself guitar or even singing!), and To Do List (just making sure in doing all of these self improvement things I am handling my responsibilities as well).

As you can see I have the calendar drawn out, you can also purchase a planner that you dedicate to tracking your process and nothing else. I suggest that, because if your planner is anything like mine, it's full of quotes, scribbles, and my tedious "to-dos", this planner should be dedicated only to the program so that you don't get your wires crossed. Next, I created little symbols to represent an activity and if I completed it that day, I drew the symbol in the box of the day I completed the action.

I also have a key or a legend that explains each activity, duration of time and frequency it would ideally happen. For example, Morning Prayer time is a 7x a week jam, while the "Band Practice" is a 4x a week thing because it's more of an enrichment activity. Most of the activities are 5 or 6 x a week. Try not to get caught up in the day to day, but at the end of the week review your progress. Where are you excelling? Where do you need to focus more effort?

I am also going to come up with rewards of some kind to acknowledge extra effort on my part, if I can hit 7x a week on these things. Ideally I would workout, eat healthy, work on my dream projects and read to my hearts content everyday, but that probably won't happen all the time. I allow room for Life to happen and still be a success, achieving working out 5x a week would be huge for me, so that's why I have them as mandatory 5x a week so I can still be pleased with my progress. However, if I hit 7x, fiesta!! Maybe just knowing I did something every day that week that I have identified as something that will improve my way of living is enough.

If you incorporate this program let me know how it goes it for you and I will definitely keep you posted on my progress as well. You see how my illustrations and calendar are Very basic and rough. Your can be too, no need to spend any money or hire an artist! The point is just a way to keep you prioritizing and focused on what you want to continue to create and manifest the results that you desire in your life. These photos were taking January 3rd, so there isn't much filled out, but it's just to give you an idea. Good Luck, Buena Suerte!!

¡Dios Mío!

Alright let’s have the “religion” talk once and for all, as I'm getting lots of questions about what I believe...

You may have caught my “That’s How I Know That God Is Real” segment and also have heard me reference the Universe, heavily. For some that is a conflict , so allow me to explain (as best as I can). Please keep in mind this is My Opinion and My Point of View. Nothing More. (that's why it's posted on a SUN Day. My personal experience...)

Growing up I was taught that GOD was this guy in the sky that pretty much resembled Santa Claus. He, like Man, would get mad at some things, be pleased by other things, had a full plate of things to do, I mean watching over EVERY single soul on the planet! That’s a huge job right? Assigning GOD this identity was very limiting for me. We won’t even get into how his race and gender were polar opposites than my own (how can I not worry about favortism?) How could this guy, while VERY powerful, love all of us equally (and this love was Greater than any love in the whole galaxy), be forgiving of every action, be every where all the time, all knowing, omnipresent, inside of you and inside of me…etc the list goes on. Already, the concept is huge for our human brains to grasp, but put it in a package of a Man and it, for me, makes it even more of a challenge.

However, you talk about the Universe, the Mulit-verse and speak of how we are all made of the same things, the earth, stardust, energy, tiny atoms that make up flowers and trees also are a part of our genetic make up. It makes more sense. The omnipresent, all knowing, All Loving, Presence that is everywhere all the time, for eternity inside of you and me…makes more sense when I think of it as the Grand Universe. I Get it. Because the very word Universe opens up my Awareness and I can see it and I can feel it. It’s not to sound super metaphysical it’s just what makes sense to me. However, I call the Universe, God. Because I very much do believe in God, but/and it’s as the Universe that I understand Her ☺ and that is how I use the two terms. The Universe allows me to understand the Majesty that is God. So while some people get upset that I say Universe thinking I’m negating God, to me the Universe IS God. The Multi-verse IS God. God is everywhere, everything and God Is LOVE, and Love is all there is.

As you see, I also use different pronouns and descriptors to describe God. I will say Him, Her, It, The Supreme, The Light, The Great I Am or a mixture of those and maybe more. It again, is in effort to not limit my mind to think of a person with two eyes, two ears, a beard etc. It’s a way of shaking up my brain like an Etch- a- Sketch so that I don’t try to “see” a picture of the Presence and Power that I am referring to. Our human brains always want to form a picture and God is greater than anything we can “picture” in our minds.

Lastly, Religion. Organized Religion. I have tremendous respect for all religions and those who are deeply entrenched in their religions. My only problem with organized religion of any kind is that I have found that people use it as a foundation to start a fight rather than spread peace and love, and this baffles me for one and discourages me for another. The point of religion is to give people something to believe in, a guideline on how to live a Divine life. I would find when I would volunteer for churches some Baptist, some Catholic, just trying to do the good work of Love, the conversation would always turn to who is going to hell first (and everyone was Christian!). The people took pleasure in these discussions all the while saying “Lord Forgive Me for saying...” or “Pray for me ya’ll but…” It doesn’t make sense to me. I live in a country right now heavily dominated by one religion, and it’s one of the first questions people ask you. “What is your religion” and they are ready to fight and debate you EVEN if you say you are the same religion! Just to make sure you love God as much as they do! I think that is deviating from the point of organized religion. Followship, Communion and Community are some examples of the benefits of organized religion not standing on your soap box in a group to tear down another group.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am seeking the real answer to World Peace and many think that everyone needs to have the same beliefs so that we can “all just get along”. However, I don’t agree with this either. The toilet paper section in my grocery store takes up over half of the isle. What’s my point? My point is that if there is a demand for that many varieties of toilet paper what makes us think we are all going to agree on one Faith!? Just like all the other things that make us different, our Beliefs, when handled in a loving way, also add a great variety to our lives. The challenge is to be able to live harmoniously and still be able to have our different belief systems. When the Baptist, The Buddhist, The Rastafarian and the Atheist can all sit down at the same table in harmony (i.e. not imposing their beliefs onto the other, respecting honoring the others) to ME that is beginning to paint the perfect picture of World Peace.
